Google Maps on every android device should solve this problem but it does not allow you to add more than 2 places, a start point and an end point. Which might be uncomfortable if you have to make multiple stops on your way.

The best way to do that without shifting between apps and bolting your phone with useless software is to plan your trip on desktop. Google Maps allows you to add multiple stops on your route and will give you the best route with least of the traffic.

Irrespective of the face that your Mobile Maps app cannot add multiple locations it sure can read one. So all you have to do is once the route is planed on the desktop click the small gear icon on the bottom right of the screen .

Then go to Share and Embed and email the link that you see over there to your self.

Now continue on your mobile. Open the link in your maps app and it will navigate you through the entire route.

After a thorough search on google the only solutions I was able to get were paid and were priced heavily, which might not be a problem for big firms but it is not convenient for individuals. OS I decided to make a script that would allow users to post on the Facebook groups they have joined for free.

While developing this script my main motive was to make it as easy to use as possible and provide it on as many  platforms as possible which I was able to achieve. The script that I have made is known as MegaPost.

Once there you would need to grant the application to read your groups and then to post on behalf of you on these groups. The interface is as simple as it gets. You need to post all the written material in the message box and if you want to share a link with it can be pasted in the link box.

The thumbnail of the link will be automatically resolved and you don’t need to do any other setting.

Right now the application is in beta stage and some errors might occur but I will be working on them.

I’ll be uploading this script on gitHub for a faster development of it but if you want the script in advance leave me a message.

Macbook Pro 13″ comes with a default resolution of 1280 X 800 which is smaller than most of the smart phones out there. Even smaller than its cousin Macbook Air 13″ which boasts a resolution of 1440 X 900. Well the only reason being Apple installs low-grade screens in Macbook Pro. As the Macbook physically has only 1280 X 800 pixels on it you cannot actually change the resolution of the screen as physics does not allow it. But if you are clever there are ways around it. If you can’t change the resolution of the screen you can certainly scale it to a higher resolution of same aspect ratio.

To increase the resolution of Macbook Pro all you would need id SwitchResX This software installs in your System Preferences.  To add a new resolution, I would prefer 1440 X 900, Open SwitchRexX from System Preferences. Goto Color LCD -> Custom Resolution. At the bottom you would see a “+” sign. Click on it and select Scaled Resolution from the menu. Enter the resolution 1440 X 900. You would need to restart your computer to apply the settings.

Once restarted again open System Preferences go to Displays and select Scaled. The new resolution would be available there select it and you would have an increased resolution on MacBook Pro 13″

Gmail has started rolling this feature out in a big way. It may be already present in your Gmail account. To activate it all you need to do is to click on the gear icon on the top right side of your screen and go to Configure Inbox. Here you can choose from different in boxes you want to sort your mail into.

Incase you do not like Gmail sorting your mail you can also revert back to the original mail box by simply unchecking the different smart tabs in Configure Inbox menu.

If the website doesn’t works on your laptop or your mobile device then it probably is not supported on it. You can also embed the plugin into your website just for a cool effect.

Spotlight has one of the best made search algorithms of all times. It gives you instant search results so as you start typing in something relavent data starts showing up. All this is true for the mac but for any resource outside the mac spotlight does not work by its self. If you try to use spotlight in a network drive or folder it will show no results.

You can over come this problem by manuallytelling spotlight to index certain network drives.

Open terminal and issue the command
mdutil /Volumes/{volume_name} -i on

Replacing {volume_name} with the actual name of your network drive or folder.

You can check the status if spotlight is indexing the drive by

mdutil /Volumes/{volume_name} -s

Apple devices have a feature called AirPlay in them which allow you to stream audio as well as video (from newer devices) to some AirPlay enabled device such as an Airport Extreme. But buying an airport device and also a separate set of speakers unique with it just to stream music seems useless. To get around this condition all you need is an old windows machine. You can disguise your windows machine as an Airplay device and the mac or your iphone will wirelessly send the audio to the windows machine.

To do this all you need to do is download ShairPort4w from here. Download the zipped files extract it and run it on your windows machine. Once up and running come back to your Mac and while pressing alt/option key and clicking the sound symbol in the notification area and then select Shairport4w.

Turn on your iTunes and play any song. You will notice the the audio is been streamed to the PC wirelessly.

There is a way to convert your sleep mode into hibernation on Mac OS X. It will work on all macs including Macbook Pro , iMac , Mac mini or anything that runs Mac OS X even a hackintosh.

To enable hibernation

1. Go to terminal (Applications -> Terminal )

2. Copy and paste this command in the terminal

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 25
Enter your password when it asks for it.

Now every time you put your mac to sleep or close the lid of your MacBook Pro or Air instead of going to sleep mode your Mac will go to hibernation.

To switch on your mac from hibernation just press the Power Button. It will take just a few seconds to some back to life so don’t panic.

If you want to reverse this process and put your Mac to only sleep mode.

Open Terminal and paste the following command

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3

This will bring your Mac to the default settings of apple

This might be a useful feature for average users who visit Facebook and YouTube dozen of times a day as it reduces the time the browser takes to download pages from the servers of the websites by eliminating the need for a DNS server by caching the most visited url.

So if you are a server admin like me or are a newbie in this field and are facing the same problem clearing/flushing your DNS cache may do your job.

To clear dns in windows: Go to All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt or Go to Run and type cmd. Once in there type

ipconfig /flushdns

Mac and Linux both being UNIX based system have the same method to do this.

For Mac go to Applications -> Terminal

For Linux press Alt+F2 and type in gnome-terminal

Then give the command

dscacheutil -flushcache

This will clear all your DNS cache and should solve your problem If not have a look at your DNS server.

In this example I will use μtorrent as it is a cross-platform software and is an efficient one.

First you need to download and install μtorrent. One up and running go to File->New Torrent or press Crtl+N (for Windows) / Command+N (for Mac) . Select the file or directory you want to send. Yes you can send a whole directory without compressing it. Next we need to add a tracker. You can choose from a list of public trackers available but technically only one would be sufficient but personally I adding multiple trackers is always good. You can select trackers fron the following list of public trackers :-

Next just click create and save as, start seeding the torrent. Share te link with your friends and they would be able to download the file.

Once you know the setting for your carrier now lets proceed. Go to System Preferences – > Network click the small plus sign and choose Bluetooth Dun. You can name it any thing like in my case I named it vodaphone which is my carrier.

Once created turn your bluetooth on and click setup bluetooth device. This will search for your bluetooth device and pair with it.  It will detect the type of your Vendor, now according to your carrier settings fill your Username Password and APN. CLick Continue this will configure your mobile. If you carrier uses some a proxy to connect to the web ,click the advanced button go to Proxies -> Web Proxy (HTTP) and fill in the detail. Now you will be able to connect your mobile as a modem to your mac.

Flickr is a photo sharing portal with billions of beautiful and helpful images. I was recently making a project and needed a lot of images for that. Many  times I landed on Flickr but the image was protected. Which got me thinking of ways in which I could download these protected images.

In google chrome there is a very versatile option called Inspect element. To download these protected Images you simply need to open the Flickr page with that image, right-click somewhere on the page and open Inspect Element or just press the Ctrl+Shift+C for PC and Command+Shift+C for mac.

Now go to Resources -> Frames under that you will see a folder named Images. Open that and it will show all the  images that have been loaded on the page and among these will be the one image you are looking for.

Okay so let’s get started. So first find out how to forward ports on your router. This tell your router to allow traffic from certain ports and redirect it to a given IP. Go here and find out how to forward ports on your router. Click on the Default Guide for a general instruction guid for port forward.

Now go ahead and forward ports 137(TCP/UDP) , 138(TCP) , 139(TCP) , 445(TCP) to the ip of the computer you are hosting the SMB server on. This pity much completes the job the only thing you now need is your external IP. You can go to ip.pixeltine.com or if you are a Linux/Mac user you can give the command

curl ip.pixeltine.com

Now mount the partition using this external ip and you are done.

Just use the external ip the we derived above instead of the local ip suggested in these posts.

After you have selected the fonts you like google lets you review your selection too. If you have selected only one or two fonts you can skip this step and directly go to use. There google provides you with very clear instruction on how to add these fonts to your website. You need to place this code somewhere in your header.

After this you would need to edit your css. If you are using WordPress go to Appearance -> Editor it will automatically take you to your CSS file usually style.css. n them. If you are like me you might have gigabytes of these things but the storage on my MacBook pro is just 500 GB. So I store all these files on a drive on my Windows system. To access the content in the drive I had to every time mount the drive on my mac.

But there is a really simple way to automatically mount the network drive on startup in lion.

STEP1: Go to System Preferences -> User & Groups -> Login Items

STEP2: Now from the desktop drag the drive you want to automatically mount every time at login into the list amongst other items.

This will mount that drive every time you login into your account.

Having a password on your Windows machine is a very good practice as it protects your computer from unauthorized access by malicious people. But having to enter a password can be very tiring at times and it also slows your login time. Automatic login can be a boon in case of power cuts when your computer restarts and it saves your login time.

Setting up an automatic login is pity easy in Windows.

STEP1: Go to Start -> Run , type in regedit and press Enter.

STEP2: Navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Once there Locate double-click AutoAdminLogon in the right pane and set its value to 1 if not already.

STEP3: GO to Edit -> New -> String Value. Name it DefaultUserName . Double click it and type in your username.

STEP4: GO to Edit -> New -> String Value. Name it DefaultPassword. Double click it and type in your password.

And you are done. Restart your computer and it would login automatically.

I found a solution to this in Google Chrome. In it you can install a plugin the will skip the video ads that load before the desired video and plave text ads instead of it. It is a totally legal practice.

You can add this extension to your browser and click the blue button every time to skip video ads.

After all the automatic rending you are opted to choose custom pictures and videos for the movie. Which the you can share on your Facebook its self. The one negative thing is it shares only a link to your video which is rendered again and not a link to a pre rendered video.

Doing this is windows is simpler than one may think. First of all you need AutoHotkey. This software let’s you program different scripts to customise things on your computer.

Next download this script (*.ahk) file. This contains the code that tells the AutoHotkey to modify the scrolling for Scroll up to be scroll Down and Scroll Down to be Scroll up which is in fact the natural scrolling.

Facebook give you an option to download particular pictures but if you had to download an album of like 300 images it will a very time-consuming job. An easy way around it is to install specialised extensions in you browser to do the job for you.

Google Chrome users can install an extension called Download FB album from here. All you need to do after installing this plugin is to go to the album and press the button on the top right corner of the screen.

The plugin organizes all the images in a single page , from there you just need to press Ctrl+s from your keyboard and it saves all the images to a desired location on your computer.

For a while now rubber band scrolling has been present on Mac OS X but nothing like this has yet been officially introduced on windows. Smooth scrolling have been adopted by almost by all mobile devices. Using classical scroll on Windows PC feels so unnatural. The only solution to this problem seems to be in browsers. Firefox Provides some better options where as Google Chrome is good but does not have a perfect smooth scrolling solution.

First let’s start with Firefox. It has a plugin named Yet Another Smooth Scrolling. You can download it from here. The plugin is highly configurable. There are 3 configured modes: Red , Green , Blue all 3 having different properties. You can also configure the plugin as per you wish.

For Google Chrome now the plugin is called Smooth Scroll. I have been using this plugin for quite some time and it has been upto the task. You can download the plugin from here. This plugin also comes pre-installed with 3 modes namely : iPhone , Opera , IE9.

Open a video on youtube , Hit the pause button and press the left key followed by the top key on your keyboard. To your surprise the loading circle in the player window will transform into a snake which you can play till you video loads.

So does that means if I don’t know how to program I cannot access timeline? The answer is no, you can.

You simply need to follow these steps to activate timeline on your profile.

STEP1: Go to http://www.facebook.com/developers/ . It’s an app used by developers , click the allow button.

STEP2: We now need to create a new App. So click the button that says Create New App in the top right hand corner of the page. A box will appear asking the name and name space of the app. Add any name you like. The name space is a specific word. It has to be unique. Once filed click the check box below and press continue. It might ask you to verify your account by adding either a mobile phone or credit card.

STEP3: The new page that has opened go to Open Graphs in the right hand corner. It will get a bit confusing here. A new box will appear asking you “Start by defining one action and one object for your app.” You need to put 2 words like read -> book or watch -> movie something like this.

STEP4: Once you are done with the above step you will see a page with a lot of options. Need not do any thing just scroll down and click “Save Changes and Next” repeat the same for the next 2 pages also that come on your screen.

Once done go to your profile you would be able to see a message like this:

Click Get It now . Your Timeline is activated.

You can solve this problem by installing a small plugin Unfriend Finder into your browser. The plugin supports approximately all the famous browsers so you would not need to change your browser if you want to use it.

You can download the plugin from here. There are different processes to install it in different browsers. For firefox you would need Greasemonkey, for Opera your would need to install the script in C:/UserScripts/ and make some changes in the preferences of the browser, for safari you would need NinjaKit (similar to Greasemonkey for firefox) etc.

Once you have installed the plugin in you browser now log on to facebook, in the left hand side menu and top menu you would be able to see the unfriends button.

Before you had to go to the privacy center to control all the minute details about your profile, but now Facebook has integrated the privacy settings in your profile its self. Now while editing your profile only you can chose who can see that in your profile.

Facebook also introduced a new feature know as “Profile Tag Review” . Now if some one tags a photo of you, you can decide weather it will be visible on your wall or not. You would first need to activate this new feature from your Privacy Settings -> How Tags Work .

Turn on Profile Review and Tag Review. Profile review will allow you to choose if a post has to be shared on your wall or not while Tag review will enable you to select if you want to publish a picture tagged by someone.

All these will fall under the Pending Post category just below your wall.

Tagging also got a advanced. With the introduction of the much awaited white picture viewer came some drastic changed in the tagging system. Now if you want to remove tags the procedure got just a bit longer. You can learn more about tagging from the following video

The View as tool is now available on your profile its self , providing you with easy access and knowing who can see your profile.

There is an old way of doing this by adding

to the header of your blog / website. But this will always show a constant image for you blog.

Adding custom thumbnails on wordpess is quite easy and you also don’t need to have the image displayed on your blog. First you would need a square version of the image for want to add as a thumbnail ( only for the purpose of better visibility ). Upload that anywhere on your blog / website or you can also use Picassa or similar image sharing service to do the job . Now install the Facebook Like Thumbnail plugin from here .

Go to set the “Default FB Like thumbnail” to the logo of your blog.

The plugin will automatically show the first  image in the post if no Featured thumbnail is defined. For adding custom thumbnails to the post you can add a custom field to the wordpress post and set its value as the url of the image. To learn more about custom fields you can go here.

Deleting emails can be one solution but that may not work for some people who intend to keep their data online (due to security reasons). Another way might be to use a client such as Thunderbird or Outlook and download all your emails, for that you always need to be on the same computer.

But there is a way around in which you will be able to add as much space as you like and wouldn’t even have to always be sitting on the same chair while checking your email. And for this you would not even have to change your email address.

The first step that we would be required to do is to clean just about 10-20 MB space that would allow you to at least receive email.

Now create a new email account for free. I would advise you to make an account something like <youremailid>1 or <youremailid>23 something like this which is close to your email address and ease to remember.

Now login into your account and go to Mail Setting ->Forwarding and POP/IMAP -> Add a forwarding address. Add the address of the new email ID that we just made.

Now gmail will send a verification code to the new email ID. Complete the verification. Then a drop down menu will occur. Select “delete Gmail’s copy” option, save the changes and its done.

Now if any one will send you an email gmail its self will forward it to the new email address and delete its copy. If you run our of space in the new ID to repeat the steps by making a new email ID. In this way you can literally store infinite amount of data on you email.

One way of doing this is to make a new playlist containing that song only and then you can loop the playlist. But it is a very tedious and long process. But there is a shortcut that you can take if you are using Firefox or Google Chrome.

Google Chrome

Google chrome users can go here and install this extension in their browser. You will be able to see an option like this under your youtube video. Check the box and your youtube video will loop till infinity.

Mozilla Firefox

Firefox users have even a more flexible plugin for their usage. If you want to loop not the whole video but only a part of it firefox users have an advantage of that too. You can go here and install the extension.

To share images on twitter you just need to click on this little icon that looks like a camera under the tweet box , select the image and you are done.

Twitter creates a very and short link elegant link of the image that looks some thing like this http://t.co/vATJyS2.

Youtube says that it will be switching to the new player in a next couple of days but till then you will have to edit the code manually

STEP1: Login to your gmail account. Go to Mail Settings -> Accounts and Imports .

STEP2: Under the Send as heading click  on the “Send email from other adress”.

STEP3: A wizard will open up. Add the email ID and fill in the specific name of the account. The wizard will send a verification code to the email ID you have entered.

SETP4: Go to the other email id copy the verification code that you just received and paste it in the wizard window.

And it is done. Now when you want to send an email you  will be able to see a drop down menu besides the heading “From:”  Select the Id you want to send email from.

Apple Safari also has a similar feature known as Readable which  removes every thing from your page and just displays the text and the images included.

If you are a blogger you can give the same experience to all your readers irrespective of the browser they use.

STEP1: Create a page on your wordpress blog named something like “Reading” by going to Pages-> Add New.

SETP2: Change the permalink or the URL(slug) to read.

STEP3: Now you would need to edit the .htaccess file. So better get an ftp client. Add the following line at the top of your .htaccess file.

RewriteRule ^read/([0-9]+)/?$ /read/?u=$1 [QSA,L]

STEP4: Download this zip file extract the php file in it and upload it to your WordPress theme folder usually /wp-content/themes/ .

STEP5 Lastly you need to create a link on your page from where your uses would be able to use this service. Top of a post or some prominent place on your sidebar are the some places I would recommend to you for placing the link.

So if you want to change the DocumentRoot in apache2 you will not find the setting under httpd.conf. To chance the DocumentRoot of the apache2 server follow the steps:

STEP1: First you need to make the directory to which you want to change the DocumentRoot to. Preferably make this directory in your home folder so that you have all the permissions to edit the files that are kept in the folder. So issue the command

mkdir ~/name_of_your_folder

STEP2: To change the DocumentRoot you would need to edit the file default file placed in /etc/apache2/sites-available . So issue the command

sudo gedit /etc/apache2/sites-available/default

In this file you would see something like

DocumentRoot /var/www/

Change it to

DocumentRoot /home/username/name_of_your_directory/

On line 9 you would see something like this

<Directory /var/www/>

Change it to

<Directory /home/username/name_of_your_directory/>

STEP3: Save the file.  Go to the terminal and issue the command

sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

And its done. Now place any of your file in the folder you made and you would be able to see the file by going to http://localhost/

Every page on the book is full of information about your facebook profile From your total likes to a graph of your comments to your most commented to your largest album status its really cool. It also design a front and a back cover which consists of all your facebook friends.

The resolution of the flash book is not that good but you can save it as an album , well it leaves a link below the image but you get the whole album.

So 2 of my buttons (Tilt wheel Right/Left) were not working. So I went to google and found a really complicated method to do the thing , and it was a bit out dated too. So I went on experimenting with the devices and finally was able to come up with a vary easy process  to activate the additional buttons on the mouse. Follow the steps:-

STEP 1:First we need to find out the name of your mouse and its handler. For that issue this command in shell

egrep “Name|Handlers” /proc/bus/input/devices

Now you would be able to see something like this:

N: Name="Power Button"

H: Handlers=kbd event1
N: Name="AT Translated Set 2 keyboard"

Note the name of the device and the event. For me it was Logitech USB Optical Mouse and event3 .

STEP 2:Now we need edit the 10-evdev.conf located in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ (Exclusively for Ubuntu 11.04 users). To edit the file issue the command

sudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf

users using earlier versions on Ubuntu need to  edit the xorg.conf locate in /etc/X11/xorg.conf . You can issue the command

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Once you have opened the file go all the way to the bottom of the page and add the following thing

And it is done. If you want you can also modify the resolution of the mouse. Caution: It may stop the mouse from working.

STEP1: First we need to know the names of all the drives you want to auto mount at the start up. For that issue the command

sudo fdisk -l

Now you will be shown a list like this

from here select the partitions you want to add.

STEP2: We now need to create a mount point ,a directory, for mounting the drive to. So me make one. Issue the command

sudo mkdir /media/any_name_you_like

STEP3: For mounting the drive to the directory we just made automatically every time you boot in we would need to editthe fstab file placed in /etc directory. So issue the command

sudo gedit /etc/fstab

For the new ubuntu the file looks something like this

#" / was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID=ad8b4f9e-a235-446b-8069-b420ed9388e7 / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
# swap was on /dev/sda3 during installation

In this example I am going to mount sdb2.

So I add

/dev/sdb2 /media/your_directory ntfs-3g defaults,locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0

If you are using any IDE hard disk your drives will appear as /dev/hda or /dev/hdb. You can also change the locale according to your region.

For those users who wish to mount the drive only as read only replace ntfs-3g with ntfs.

For those who wish to mount FAT partitions you can use fat(for read only) and vfat (for read and write) .

STEP1: You first need to unmount the already mounted filesystems using default permissions. Issue the command

sudo umount /media/yourmountpoint

STEP2: Now we need to mount the partition with the correct permissions. For that first we need a directory to mount it to so issue the command

sudo mkdir /media/anynameyoulike

STEP3: Now we will mount the drive using read-write permission for that we need to know device name. So issue the command

sudo fdisk -l

You will be shown some thing like this

Identify the drive you want to mount. Is you have an IDE hard disk you will have something like /dev/hda or /dev/hdb .

STEP4: Now we come to mounting the partition. For this tutorial I am mounting /dev/sdb4 you would need to replace “sdb4” with the one you want to mount. Now issue the command

sudo mount.ntfs-3g /dev/sdb4 /media/the_directory_you_made_before

This should do the trick. But if you are still having problem mounting a partition you can use -f with the above command.

Now you navigate to the file you wanted to execute. You would be able to execute it this time.

• Go and register yourself on Way2SMS  and login.
• Go to the GMAIL tab on the left -> Mail Alert(On the Top right of menu)
• Click on “Click here to Activate”.
• You would now need to configure the Time Settings. If you want instantaneous notification Choose “All 7 Days” and “Round the clock” and click Activate.
• Click on “Link Your Gmail account with Way2SMS mail and receive Free Email alerts on your Mobile” and copy the “@way2sms.com” email ID. We would need it later on.
• Now you would need to login into your Gmail account. Go to  Forwarding and POP/IMAP in the Mail Settings.
• Click on “Add a forwarding address” . Now paste the “@way2sms” email ID that we copied earlier in there.
• Now Click on Click here to see the confirmation code received from gmail on the page. In my case I received an SMS  within a few minutes with the verification code.
• Enter the verification in gmail settings.

And you are done ! Now you will receive instant email updates from your gmail ID instantaneously for the next 14 days. After 14 days just go and repeat the process again.

The plugin is really easy to install. After installation you would be able to see a facebook icon besides the home icon on your Google+ account.The plugin allows you to update your status directly from Google+ Stream.  While working with it I found it only shows you the Most Recent feeds from facebook and you don’t have any option where you can customize your feeds and it also shows you the Google+ Stream way below the Facebook feeds.

If we neglect these bugs in the plugin then it is a great  way to connect to your facebook as well as Google+ friends at one place.

The Plugin is supported on Google Chrome and Mozzila Firefox. There are some built-in security issues with the IE which prevented them from supporting Internet Explorer.

The new experiment is called the Cosmic Panda. I don’t understand what were they thinking while they were naming this thing. Well whatever be the name of this experiment I must tell you that it is really awesome. Before you only got 2 sizes of the player window to choose from but the new interface allows you to chose from 4 different choices of player sizes. The Recommended section is also looking very cool, it now has a larger thumbnail of the videos on the right column. One very good thing that this experiment has is when you open some channel before it used to play the last uploaded video directly  even if  I didn’t wanted to see it. So this is a really good change.  It also have a sleek interface to navigate between videos, playlists, and channels.

So the only option left for users is to downgrade the facebook chat to its older version. But facebook does not provides any real way downgrade your facebook chat. But you can use the popout chat box(Click here) service that still uses the older version chat. It is a good replacement.

Now you can get Gmail in a total new look similar to that of Google+. All you have to do is to go to Gmail Settings -> Themes and then select either Preview or Preview(Dense). Refresh your gmail and it’s done.

Activating video chat on Facebook is quite simple. You just need to go here. This will pity much do the job. You will be prompted to Set Up video chat that in tern downloads their plugin. Install the plugin and you are ready to go.

Now you need to refresh Facebook and the option of video calling will be present on top of the chat window.

With Google Chrome you not only sync your bookmarks but also your password , extension , apps and themes too. You would not have to install anything new and Google does this by just using your Gmail username.

To enable this service follow the steps:

STEP1: Go to -> Options -> Personal Stuff . There you see under the heading Sync click on Set Up Sync .

STEP2: It will ask you for your Google username and password which is the same as that of your Gmail. If you have 2-step verification enabled you would be required to enter your application specific password.

It will now sync your chrome to all other chromes you use. To apply sync to other Chrome or other devices just follow the same process on them too.

To remove the recycle bin from the desktop you can follow these simple steps:

STEP1: Go to start->Run->type in gpedit.msc .

STEP2: It will open Group Policy. In the Left column navigate to User Configurations -> Administrative Template -> Desktop.

STEP3: Now in the right column you will be able to see Remove Recycle Bin icon  from desktop. Open it and check Enable and the OK.

STEP:4 Go to desktop and press F5(refresh the desktop) and the Recycle Bin will be removed.

Using this service is real easy. First download latest version of VLC from here. Second go to youtube and copy its URL without the parameters. Goto your VLC media player -> Media -> Open Network Stream. Paste the url in there click Play.

Well VLC allows you to see the Videos but it doesn’t allows you to set its quality which can be a real problem for those with slower connection.

We all remember our good old NES consoles. How we would use to glued to it playing Mario , Donkey Kong , Kirby’s Adventure or Castlevania and a lots more. Those games were just like magic and never seemed boring. Well no matter how better the PSP games are but we have to say these NES titles have a charm of their own and they still don’t fail to entertain us. But the problem is that the NES console has become obsolete, repairs are difficult and the game titles can’t be easily found.

Well no need to frown. There’s a PSP homebrew called NesterJ which just comes to our service. First of all you need is a Homebrew enabled or a CFW(custom firmware) PSP.

Files Needed:NesterJ v1.13  Link

STEP 1: Download the emulator file from the link above .Connect your PSP to the computer and go to USB mode.

STEP 2: After you have extracted the files, open the folder “NesterJ” and inside there’s a folder “NESTERJ” . Copy the folder “NESTERJ” . Now go to your memory stick’s root, there will be folders like ISO , PSP and like that go to PSP>GAME, now paste the folder “NESTERJ” here and you are done! As simple as that.

STEP 3: Now all you have to is to put roms in your memory stick. You can put the roms anywhere on the memory stick. A unique feature is that you don’t need to unzip the roms you have downloaded just put the zip or the rar files NesterJ will play them too! Cool huh?

You can save a state and load states . There are as much as 10 save slots.

Google’s People widget is a sidebar widget which you would be able to see right of your email’s. This new widget will show you the previous email’s between you to , recent buzz’s from the user , Calendar events if you share some ,  the Documents that you share.

In my experiences it proved to be damn slow as it uses Internet Explorer to access facebook and I use IE6 and facebook doesn’t goes well on it. But if you are the owner of a newer version you will face no problem.The interface designed by skype for Facebook is also very cool and one ends up looking at more updates from friends than  originally on facebook.

One of the good things about skype 5.5 is that you can see all your facebook friends in a single place even if they are not online. This proves to be good for some one like me who has do go through so much pain to have all the contacts on a single page.

One thing that I missed while typing on skype messenger is the “Friend is typing” instead you see a pencil moving. A new thing that I personally liked was hearing the skype pinf tone whenever any of your Facebook contact pinged you. It also reads your friends mobile numbers from there profiles and shows under Call Mobile. One thing I don’t understand if it can read your mobile number then why it doesn’t reads your skype name while it allows you to search your facebook friends on skype by searching them through their email ID’s.So that means you can’t call anyone on your facebook friends list directly but you would first have to add them as you sykpe contact and then you wwould be able to call them.  One of the drawback of skype 5.5 is that it you can’t browse your facebook while you are chatting you can either chat or view yout Facebook profile.

On activating this feature you will be sent a messages(Text or automated voice) every time you login from an unknown device(including Androids,BlackBerry,iPhone). You also get some automated generated codes that you can keep with your self and if you loose your account’s password you can enter them and gain access of your account. You are also asked to add a secondary phone so if you loose your primary cell you don’t loose the control of your account. But this service is not yet active on your Apps like mobile Gmail,DesktopPicasa or AdWords writer so you would need to create application specific passwords(explained blow) as they work outside of a browser.

The feature is really hidden and I also found it by luck. Its in your Google account settings(not your gmail account settings). So where the hell to look for this thing.Hmm Okay let’s begin. Follow the steps below:

• First go to the Google home page.
• In the top right hand corner you will be able to see your name/your email ID with which loged in or if you haven’t fist login and then look there.
• There you will see Account settings. Open the link.
• Under the Personal Settings ,hidden some where is a link saying “Using 2-step verification”.
• Setting it up,as claimed by google,takes 15 min but it took a lot longer for me to do it. Instructions are really confusing.
• To start with setting up 2SV click on the button Setup 2-step verification.

• Next you will be asked to select you phone type. I din’t had a smart phone to selected the usual  Text message or voice call.If some reader can be so nice to write what happens in the smart phone option I will be very grateful(not because you helped but because at least some one commented on my blog )



• Now enter your mobile number,select the way you want to receive the  verification code(either txt or voice call).



• Once verification is done the interface will take you to the secondary backup in case you loose your primary mobile. Clicking Next you will be able to get the secret codes that I talked about above.
• If you want print them up but I am a big scrooge so ill give you an advise rather you can just press Ctrl+S to save the page to a safe location and use it if needed.



• In the next screen you will be asked to enter a secondary mobile number and there will be an optional thing Test Phone. I strongly advise you to do it, so that in case of emergency you find out that you entered a wrong number then.



• Now you are almost done with it. Next screen will warn you about application specific passwords. Click next. No need to think about it right now as it does not apply to your account till you activate the 2SV.
• On the final screen click Turn on 2SV.
• Once you do that you will be signed out and will need to sign in again. This is the first time you will receive a verification code on your mobile.



• Once you login you will be able to see a link saying Manage application-specific passwords beside the Application-specific passwords heading.
• The next screen asks you to enter the name of the device you would use to access these services. No need to look you device setting for their specific Model numbers,it is just asking this just so know the device belongs to you. Enter things like My iPad.



• It will give you something strange looking. I prefer to directly open m.gmail.com from my mobile phone and get over with the thing rather than saving it and looking for it on my computer when I login from my mobile later. And if you don’t enter it right away or even save it doesn’t matter you can come to this page again add a new device and it will give you a new pass which you can use.

• After installing you will be opted to create a new profile. Add the name of the profile and the location to save all the content.
• Now go to File->Blog Account. This will open a blog adding wizard.




• Enter the URL of your blog. Raven will connect to your blog and auto detect its type.
• If the type detected is not correct you can manually change it you the correct one.

BlogDesk: Blog desk is a very easy to use WebBlog software.It is a freeware. You can download it from here .

• Go to File->Manage Blogs. A wizard is prompted. Enter the name of you blog and click Next.
• In the next screen you will be asked to enter the URL of your blog.
• Select the CMS engine you use for your blog.
• It will auto detect the location of the xmlrpc file and the port to connect it from. If it is not the appropriate thing  you can edit it.
• Next it asks you for you username and password
• Rest of the setup of quite easy and self explanatory.

BlogJet: BlogJet costs about $45 and you can get 30 trial. It is a very decent and an easy to use software. Its is really easy to configure and install. The support of the software is also extraordinary. You can download BlogJet from here. To configure your BlogJet follow the steps:

• Running blog jet for the first time, a screen will appear asking weather you have ha blog or you want to create one. If you want to create one it will take you to Google Blogger. Select the option that suits you can continue with the tutorial.




• The second screen will ask you to enter the URL of your website. It will then autodetect the Blog ID,Type and the platform. If you want you can click configure manually if you feel the software is not working as it should.
• Then it straight away it asks you for you login username and password.
• If you want you can have custom setting , but it is highly recommended that you select the default one.
• Click Next enter the name of the account and the address of your blog page and it is done.
• If you want to edit you previously stored or published posts you can press Ctrl+H.

WB Editor: WB editor is available both in a free version and also as a paid one. In my views it is the best and the closest thing that you will get near WUSIWYG. Setting it up is real easy job. It also supports plugins. You can edit your posts directly into your theme. Setting it up is a child’s play. You can follow these step:

• The first time you run your WB editor you are asked to enter you blog’s URL. Once you enter it automatically detects all that it needs to know bout your blog. You just need to enter the username and password of your Blog

Windows Live Writer: Windows Live writer is a very useful tool for a blogger.  Windows Live Writer allows such kind of editing where you see on screen exactly how the blog post will look. In addition to that it also supports native videos with a simple ‘insert video’ function and is now XHTML compliance. Setting it up is just a 2 step job:

• When you first turn on the Windows Live Editor the setup wizard comes up and asks for the type of the blog you have. For all those using Blogger,Wordpres,TypePad etc select Other Blog services and click next.
• In the next window it asks you about your blog URL and the username and password of your blog fill them and click next.

I tell you an easier way to check your wordpress stats direct from your Google chrome window while browsing.

Now to do that you would need the latest Google Chrome browser(Click here).

• Once you downloaded and installed Google chrome we need to install wordpress stat plugin(Click here)
• Once installed you will be able to see an icon like this ()beside the address bar. Click on it will ask ,you will be asked to enter your blog URL and API key. You can get the API key from here

Once done you will be able to get your wordpress blog stats in your google chrome its self.

Setting up a RAID drive on Windows is not so much of a challenge as one may think. All you need to do to setup a RAID drive is to follow these easy steps

In my example I will be combining a 2gig,a 5gig,and a 10gig drive into a single RAID dirve

• First thing we need to do is to convert all the dirves you want to add to the RAID system into Dynamic drives. To do this right click on the Disk name and click Convert to Dynamic.



• Now right click on any of the  Unallocated space and click New Partition .
• Now you will see a setup like this. Select Spanned.



• Now in the next window add all the volumes you wish to combine into a single unit of the RAID drive.



• Click Next, format the partition and your RAID system is ready.

So first let’s begin with installation of wordpress on your system(Installation on a remote server is approximately similar to this only).

WordPress needs 3 major components : an SQL server to store all the data like the Posts,Comments and other configurations, a PHP server to be able to query data from the SQL server and display it on an a web page and the last thing is an apache server(You know what apache is use for :P)

So you can install all these servers individually or as I recommend install WAMP (Windows Apache MySql PHP) Click Here. Download it and install anywhere on your system. Once done click on the wamp server icon on the notification area and put it online.

Now we are ready to install the wordpress. So go to WordPress.org and get yourself a brand new copy of WordPress. Extract it and place it in the www folder of the wamp installation we just did(usually it is C:\wamp\www).

Let us now configure the wordpress so the first thing we are gonna do is to create a new database for wordpress. To do that follow the steps:-

• Open your browser and type in http://localhost/phpmyadmin/
• There is a text box under the heading Create a new database. Type in your desired name and click Create.

To install your wordpress go to http://localhost/. Under the Your Projects section you will see the folder we extracted before named wordpress. Click on that. It will ask you to configure the wp-config file click on Create a Configuration File. Now replace the field designated as Database Name to the one you made before in phpmyadmin. In place of Username type root which is the default leave the password filed blank and click Submit. In case of users who want to install this system on a remote server you password will be the same of that of your admin login name. Click on Run Install. You would be prompted to add your blog name ,username,password and Email-ID. Click install and you are up.

Login using your username and password.

Once done now there are some things you would like to change like your ssl security(Which allows you to open your admin page with https protocol). So for this you would need to open the wamp version of MySql Console.

Press enter when prompted about entering password. Issue the command

connect yourdatabasename

Once the above screen is displayed issue the command

UPDATE wp_usermeta SET meta_value=1 WHERE umeta_id=8;

and now your admin page will have ssl encryption.

By default wordpress shows only 10 of your last feeds in the rss. If you want to increase it issue the following command in the MySql Console

UPDATE wp_options SET option_value=20 WHERE option_name=”post_per_rss”;

Installing Windows Media Player requires a genuine version of Windows.

Those of you guys who are using non-genuine version of windows need not worry any more.

You can follow these simple steps to install Windows Media Player on you non-genuine copy of windows.

• Download a copy of Windows Media Player 11 from the Microsoft’s website.(Click Here)
• Download WinRAR (Click Here),install it and extract all the contents of wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe by right clicking on it and selecting Extract files to wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe\
• Now download the patched copy of LegitLibM.dll (Click Here)and replace this with the one already present in the folder wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe
• Now run the Setup_wm.exe

And you are done. Enjoy using you new Windows Media Player 11
